There is a show on TV called Storage Wars. Specific characters bid against each other for lockers that have been abandoned or taken over by the storage companies.
Just as we store our Christmas bulbs and lights away, they are put in the back, out of the way. We forget how much trouble they are sometimes. And we forget how beautiful they can become.
As I think of what people have stored I realize that they eventually let go of the lockers. They thought they might want the items but whether due to finances, moving or lack of care, they no longer own them.
We store many memories in our heads. We lock them up and let them fade at times. We should keep the good ones, the honest thoughts, the happy thoughts at the forefront. They need to be accessible so that we can draw upon them in times of distress or hardship. New memories to store are essential.
Storing old wounds and continuing with unforgiving attitudes, coasting along with thoughts of vengeance is wrong. Those stored mind bending and hate filled memories need to be sold off, forgotten, or locked away and sealed. When you keep them It’s like being at war with your own mind if you hold onto them for later reminiscing.
Bringing up the past, diving into the mud or waiting for the day that you can return the unkind favor, will take your happiness and delay your bright future.
Store those things which are good, faithful, just, loving, kind, non-critical and non-judgmental and right. We know right from wrong. Thinking in the wrong way will make you crazy. Keep your thoughts on things above and beyond – not on things of low paths and past wounds.
Be happy this season. Share with others and encourage them.
Find one person who might be going through some struggles and make it a point to make contact and inspire them or comfort them (without being nosy).
YOU can make a difference in your own life and in the lives of others.
Without the manger, we would never know the power of the cross.
Merry Christmas
